Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship 2011 – March 30th – 1st April

The Skoll World Forum takes place in conjunction with the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the Saïd Business School, at Oxford University in Oxford, UK between the 30th March and 1st April 2011.  The Skoll World Forum is the world’s leading platform that strives to raise awareness of the potential that can be developed through taking an entrepreneurial approach to managing and changing some of the worlds most pressing social issues.

Each year the Skoll World Forum has a theme, last year (2010) the theme was “Catalysing collaboration for large scale change” and this year the theme will be a follow on from this by looking towards “Large Scale Change – ecosystems, networks and collaborative action.”

According to the website, “Delegates will explore the increasingly global, complex and interrelated nature of pressing social problems, while also surfacing conditions and challenges that help or inhibit large scale change.”  Confirmed speakers include:

  • Desmond M. Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town
  • Mabel van Oranje, CEO, Global Elders
  • Baaba Maal, Senegalese Master Musician
  • Andrew Kassoy, Co-Founder, B Corp
  • Bruno Giussani, Director, TED Europe
  • Jonathan Lewis, Founder and Chair, Microcredit Enterprises

And confirmed topics will include discussions around the growth of civil society in China, whether heroism is obsolete, how public companies can drive large scale social change and whether grants or investment are best amongst many.

Although applications for the 2011 programme are now closed, you will be able to follow the whole event through live social reporting and the streaming (online) of some sessions.
